Welcome to Our Sweet Adventures!

Updated November 25, 2024

My name is Christina, and I am the owner and writer of Our Sweet Adventures – your go-to family travel and food blog. Here, I share detailed guides to all the beautiful places we explore, tips for traveling with kids (including twins!), and recipes inspired by our adventures around the globe. Whether you’re looking for destination guides, weekend getaways, hiking adventures, or culinary inspiration, you’ll find it all here.

Meet Christina

I’m a Dallas native and proud graduate of Texas A&M University – WHOOP! Initially, I attended Texas A&M to play soccer, but along the way, I discovered my passion for the culinary world. This led me to pursue a career in the hospitality industry, earning a Tourism Management degree in 2013. After graduating, I dived headfirst into the fast-paced culinary world, working in Dallas, Las Vegas, and Washington D.C. I climbed the ranks from line cook to pastry sous chef, even opening a hotel-casino resort.

While I loved the excitement and rigor of the industry, I ultimately chose to prioritize a balanced lifestyle with family. That decision gave rise to the foodie half of Our Sweet Adventures, where I create original dishes from my training as a pastry chef and recreate dishes we’ve tasted around the world so you can cook them in your kitchen at home 🙂

As a former pastry chef, I bring years of professional culinary experience to my recipes, blending expert techniques with approachable methods to make cooking at home as easy as pie (pun intended). In addition, I share tips and tricks to help you grow as a home cook, inspired by my travels and culinary adventures.

Our Sweet Journey

Adam and I always dreamed of traveling the world, and once we started dating, our small adventures grew into big ones. What began as weekend trips around Las Vegas expanded to epic travels: day tripping to Joshua trees in California, hiking Zion’s peaks, and even a 24-hour road trip to Arizona for a hockey game. From there, we’ve journeyed to four continents and 18 countries, enjoying unforgettable experiences like hiking Machu Picchu, taking a safari in Africa, and savoring a honeymoon in St. Lucia.

Now, as parents, our adventures have evolved into family travels with kids (including travel with twins). Through these experiences, we’ve gained valuable insights into traveling as a family, which we’re excited to share with you.

Culinary Creations: Recipes Inspired by Travel

The culinary half of Our Sweet Adventures is where I bring the world to your kitchen. Drawing from my years in the culinary industry and inspiration from our travels, I create recipes that let you experience global flavors from home. From French pastries to Italian classics, Caribbean delights, and more, each dish is a story from our adventures.

Some of my recipes are inspired by cooking classes abroad or time spent with hosts during our travels. As a travel writer, I include stories about when and where I enjoyed these dishes to inspire you to not only try the recipes but also travel to experience them firsthand.

What You’ll Find in Our Recipes

  • By Region: Recipes from Italy, France, Peru, Ireland, and beyond
  • By Meal: From breakfast pastries to hearty dinners and indulgent desserts
  • All recipes are tried, tested, and easy to recreate, so you can cook with confidence.

We’ve loved every step of our journey, from exploring the world’s beauty to creating delicious dishes inspired by our travels.

Whether you’re here for travel tips or recipes, I’m so glad you’re part of Our Sweet Adventures.
